THE MESOAMERICAN UNIT- Museum display

Cultures

  1. Mayan
  2. Teotihuacan
  3. Aztec
  4. Incan
  5.  Moche (classes with five groups)

Planning and Research

  1. You will be assigned one of the four cultures and given a folder.
  2. Fill out all of the planning sheets.
  3. Use your daily checklist to stay on task.
  4. Research the culture within the four-five person group.
  5. Cover the major culture traits as suggested.

PREPARE A MUSEUM DISPLAY

  1. Create a backboard with 2 maps (one local area, one regional view).
  2. Collect visuals, such as pictures of art, architecture, diagrams, etc. that represent the unique culture traits of the specific civilization.
  3. Create an illustrated timeline.
  4. Create two 3D artifacts representing culture markers.
  5. Include large, colorful visuals to make your museum more meaningful and informative. There should not be any large blank areas on your board.
  6. Write a script to accompany presentation of display. (two copies please)
  7. Make a bibliography of all sources consulted. Post this on the backboard and make a separate copy to submit to the teachers. You must have a total of six resources and three of the six must be print resources.
  8. You must turn in a group folder with all of the appropriate paper work.

In this unit, you are responsible for teaching the class about your culture. Think of the types of culture traits we have discussed in class and that will give you some basic guidelines for items to include. Consult the diagram for setting up your display board.
