WHAT IS THE GESTALT?

The dictionary definition: (from Merriam Webster online dictionary--http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/gestalt):

a structure, configuration, or pattern of physical, biological, or psychological phenomena so integrated as to constitute a functional unit with properties not derivable by summation of its parts.

What does this mean?

Gestalt is a psychological theory of German origin, from Fritz Perl, that organizes all of the attributes of the human into an inter-related pattern. That is to say, your physical, mental, emotional, etc., parts unite into one whole--which us you. The parts of you should not be studied separately and independently but as parts of a whole.
